Rogue One Trailer: Yes, Darth Vader is in it

When you are one of the most iconic hero-anti-hero-villain-tragic-hero figures in entertainment history, even a one-second appearance in a two-minute trailer will be enough to have the Internet buzzing. The latest "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" trailer has just confirmed what everyone practically knows already, and still everyone is talking about it nonetheless. Yes, Darth Vader, the Jedi formerly known as Anakin Skywalker, is in the film. Because how could he not be.

Rogue One takes place in between the ill-fated Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and the Episode that is almost universally loved, A New Hope. The basic premise of the film is no secret, focusing on the building of the Death Star and how the Rebel Alliance came to get hold of its secrets. But, of course, the devil is in the details, which is part of the reason why this trailer has set the Interwebs ablaze in an instant.

Of course, being the first ever most officialest of official confirmations helps a lot as well. Rogue One director Garerth Edwards did confirm, almost in passing, that James Earl Jones, the real Darth Vader, had recorded some lines for a character but played hard to get when it came down to which character. But you don't hire the voice of Darth Vader in a Star Wars "mid-quel" not to voice Darth Vader.

Rogue One hits theaters December 16 this year. Until then, enjoy the trailer.
