Rocket League for Nintendo Switch might happen after all

Given its portable nature, the Nintendo Switch seems perfect for pick up and play games that don't require a large time investment to be fun. Perhaps the king of such games is Rocket League, which has built a huge following of fans since releasing in 2015. So, it would logically follow that the Nintendo Switch and Rocket League were made for one another, right?

Not so fast. Even though Rocket League seems like a shoe-in for Nintendo Switch, the game's developer, Psyonix, hasn't definitively said whether or not it will port the game over. There may be hope, though, as Psyonix told IGN in a new interview that it is considering a Switch version of Rocket League.

"Just like all the other platforms, we are evaluating it. We're looking to see what the technical requirements are," Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham said. "We're looking to see what kind of true community demand there is. We're looking to see how it would benefit the community as a whole. So we're still in that evaluation phase. It's definitely too early to say that it wouldn't happen, but it's also definitely too early to say that it would."

The good news is that Rocket League doesn't require stellar hardware on PC, which bodes well for the relatively underpowered Switch. Dunham also seems to suggest that the decision to bring Rocket League to the Switch lies at least partially with players, so if you want to see it happen, it can only help to let Psyonix know.

Given the popularity of Rocket League on other platforms – Xbox One, PS4, and PC – it seems like it would find a good audience on the Switch as well. Here's hoping that it one day comes to the console, because more games certainly aren't going to hurt the Switch, especially those as fun as Rocket League.
