Rock Band demo showing up at local Best Buy stores

I found myself wandering into my local Best Buy in search of a a cable that I seem to have misplaced at some point. As I made my way back to the computer section I was greeted by the unmistakable sound of clicking drumsticks. If you've ever played the drums, you really can't miss it. Hearing that sound coming from the game section could only mean one thing: Rock Band.

I meandered towards the source of the sound and found my suspicions to be correct, there was in fact a full demo set up for the upcoming title. The only difference between this and the one I played on the Rock Band Tour was the lack of a bass pedal on the drums. This was purposly left off of the game, though it will still be in the retail version. In case you were worried, the bass notes are automatically played for you.

It's been a while since I played the game, and since I'd just gotten done rocking out to Guitar Hero III with a friend, I thought it would be the perfect time to revisit the Fender Stratocaster. The Strat is a bit larger than the Les Paul found in Guitar Hero III. I enjoyed the larger size, and the controller felt very solid. I will say that the buttons on the Les Paul do seem a bit more natural, as does the strum bar. My biggest concern is that the strum bar is is a little more stiff and doesn't give you a satisfying "click" when you hit it.

Overall, I still enjoyed it just as much as I did when I played it in Chicago. Having played both Rock band and Guitar Hero III, I can say that they're both great games, and will be well worth the money you pay. If you want to test it out, head to your local Best Buy and see if they've got the demo up.
