Redesigned 2015 Ford Focus gets 1.0L EcoBoost in the US

Ford has gone official with the redesigned 2015 Focus. The car gets a new design on the exterior and a revamped interior as well. The Focus is one of the top selling Ford vehicles in the world and is a very important car for the automaker. Ford announced back in 2012 that it would be putting a 1.0L EcoBoost under the hood of the Focus in Europe.

That 1.0L EcoBoost is now coming to the US under the hood of the 2015 Focus. The redesigned exterior takes design cues from other Ford vehicles and will offer new tech to improve safety. The new tech includes driver assist technologies like a standard rearview camera with available lane keeping tech. the car will also have available Blind Sport Information System known as BLIS.

The 1.0L EcoBoost engine will be paired with a 6-speed transmission to improve the fuel efficiency that was achieved by previous Focus models. The 1.0L EcoBoost is the smallest engine in the EcoBoost line and has proven very popular in the smaller Fiesta and Focus in Europe where it has been available.

The car will also get Sync AppLink technology allowing iOS and Android smartphones to download compatible apps that can be used in the car. The apps are able to gather information from the car like speed, acceleration, and odometer info to help customize the app operation. The notifications for the app will also be read aloud over the car infotainment system. Ford says that the 2015 Focus will go on sale in the second half of 2014.
