Red Dead Redemption 2 rumored PC version surfaces once again

Two years after it was first announced, Red Dead Redemption 2 is poised to launch next week. Throughout these past two years, Rockstar fans who claim PC as their primary gaming platform have been hoping that the company would announce a PC version of RDR 2, but with the Xbox One and PS4 launches practically staring us in the face, such an announcement is nowhere to be seen. That doesn't mean that a PC version is never going to launch, however.

A European retailer has published a listing for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2, giving an air of legitimacy to rumors that claim Rockstar is working on it behind the scenes. The listing claims that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be out on PC sometime next year, and if we're following Rockstar's release schedule with Grand Theft Auto V, that doesn't seem too crazy.

The listing was published by MediaMarkt and discovered by Dutch website TechTastic, which was able to snap a screenshot of it before it was removed. In that screenshot, we see a release date of December 31, 2019 listed, though that's commonly used as a placeholder when retailers haven't been given an actual release date by the publisher.

Whether or not MediaMarkt is privy to information the rest of us aren't is up in the air, but this isn't the first time that we've heard Rockstar is working on a PC version of RDR 2. Back in June, a Rockstar Leeds employee claimed on their LinkedIn profile that they assisted with Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. Up until today, that was the only thing we had to suggest that RDR 2 will one day come to PC, so this MediaMarkt listing definitely piques our interest.

If Rockstar truly is planning a PC release for Red Dead Redemption 2, we aren't likely to hear about it anytime soon. Still, Grand Theft Auto V has found enduring popularity on PC, so it seems like a no-brainer to bring Red Dead Redemption 2 over eventually. We'll keep an ear to the ground for more, so stay tuned.
