Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay video shows off Dead Eye system, FPS mode

We're now just a few weeks out from the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, and Rockstar's hype machine has kicked into full gear. Today, the company released the second part of its gameplay overview, giving us a glimpse into some of the game's mechanics and systems. If the video is any indication, it sounds like the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be a hostile one, with conflict at every turn.

More specifically, the gameplay video highlights many of the things you can do as you play through Red Dead Redemption 2. As you might guess, a lot of those activities include violence. Whether you're robbing a train or holding up stagecoaches, there certainly seems to be the potential to make a lot of cash if you're willing to break the law.

Of course, breaking the law has its consequences, and the video tells us that lawmen will be formidable opponents of their own. Then there's the various rival gangs you need to look out for, as well as bounty hunters who will track you down if there's a price on your head. In short: There will be no shortage of people who want to either apprehend you or kill you.

You'll have some tools at your disposal when it comes to dispatching these aggressors, though. Rockstar says that it has revamped the Dead Eye system for Red Dead Redemption 2, which allows you to slow time and line up your shots. You can use it to paint your targets before firing or aim for a critical spot, giving you an edge in a shootout where you might be outnumbered.

Rockstar also offered up a brief glimpse at Red Dead Redemption 2's first-person mode, which might make the game feel more familiar to people who play a lot of shooters. There's more to the video beyond just conflict and shootouts, so be sure to give it a watch above. Red Dead Redemption 2 is out on PS4 and Xbox One on October 26.
