Razer Phone 2 release date tipped for Q4

This week the next Razer Phone was revealed – sort of. A Razer official made clear that the device would definitely be revealed and released within the year, which allowed us to narrow down the timeframe within which the device could be revealed in full. Razer VP Chen Xiaoping suggested this week that Razer Phone 2 should be delivered to China by December of 2018 – cutting it close!

The Razer Phone 1 was revealed in full on the 1st of November, 2017. Since the device has scarcely been beaten by any other device on the market since then, we do not expect Razer is in any hurry to try to replace the first model. The first Razer Phone still runs ahead of the rest of the industry in its display refresh rate of 120hH, making it one of two devices in the mobile universe to do so – the other being the iPad Pro.

With such a high-powered feature under its belt, Razer will be expected to bring more fury to the market in 2018. The first Razer Phone came with a still-substantial 5.7-inch display with QHD resolutiuon and IGZO LCD technology. This smartphone came with USB-C to headphone jack DAC dongle and was styled rather similar to the first NextBit phone – which is a good thing.

The Razer Phone 2 will likely come with a similar-to or larger display, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-chip, and a global release. It's not expected that Razer will pair itself with any smartphone data carriers in the United States – because it does not need to – but we will expect more effort in the advertising department. Especially now that other companies are pushing their own so-called "Gaming Phones."

Meanwhile Razer continues to focus on gaming peripherals for PC and console games of all sorts. If what we've been tracking is true, over the next few years you'll find Razer expand its reach beyond department stores in the United States into its own self-titled brand stores in some of the largest malls in the world – mark my words, it'll go down!
