The Razer Phone 2 is the sequel to the original Razer Phone, offering mobile gamers a device tailored to their gaming needs. The handset was released in October 2018, bringing with it Android 8.1 Oreo alongside the promise of a future Android 9.0 Pie update.

On February 19, news surfaced that the Android Pie update would drop for Razer Phone 2 on February 27, which is exactly what happened. Handset owners can check their device for the update; if it's not available yet, it should show up in the near future.

The Android Pie update brings gesture navigation, the controversial feature that has polarized users. Handset owners who don't enjoy the gesture-based navigation retain the option to disable it in the device's settings. As well, the new Android update brings adaptive battery for more efficient power usage, adaptive brightness, App Actions, and Digital Wellbeing.

Other changes arriving with Android Pie includes support for video recording at a 4K/60fps resolution, better control over background apps, and much more. The update is released alongside a temporary Razer Phone 2 price drop to $499.99 USD (compared to $799.99), which will be in effect until March 1.
