Qualcomm announce Google Chrome OS support

Qualcomm have announced that they are now adding Google Chrome OS to their list of supported platforms, with CEO Paul Jacobs revealing the news on-stage at CES 2010 this morning.  It comes as little surprise, perhaps, since potential specifications for the first Google-branded Chrome OS notebook which leaked back in December tipped an ARM-based processor, just like Qualcomm's Snapdragon.

Jacobs stopped short of confirming that there would be a Snapdragon-based Chrome OS smartbook, however, and Google have not publicly acknowledged any possible specifications beyond the basics they covered at the platform's launch.  Yesterday we heard that Qualcomm were planning two new Snapdragon chipsets for launch in 2010, including a 1.3GHz Snapdragon 8X50A and the dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon 8X72.
