Pushbullet update lets you reply to messaging apps on your desktop

Pushbullet is great for lots of things, and is especially handy for sending files back and forth between devices. A new update to their Android app might just make Pushbullet much more vital to your daily routine, as the popular cross-platform and browser agnostic service will now support major messaging platforms. Rather than reach for your phone, or have a litany of windows or apps open on the desktop, you can now reply to messages on your desktop, and they'll scoot away once you send your message.

For now, Pushbullet supports WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, Line, and Hangouts. The update requires Android 4.4 or better, and the team notes Hangouts requires a weird workaround to work properly. Rather than access Hangouts straight away, Pushbullet needs you to have the Android Wear app installed.

You don't have to reply, either. Messages come with a 'reply' or 'dismiss' option, so you don't have to talk if you're not in the mood,.

The benefits are obvious, but even clearer if you use a clumsy web app or desktop app to chat via those platforms. Facebook Messenger doesn't have an official app, and Whatsapp's web application is just goofy. Hangouts requires the power-consumptive Chrome to be open, so this will come in handy for many.
