PUBG Suicide Squad crossover details: Harley Quinn, Joker on deck

It might be a bit strange to see a headline about Suicide Squad here at the tail end of 2018, but here we are. PUBG Corporation has announced a new team up with DC Comics that will see a Suicide Squad crossover event happen in-game at some point in the near future. This, of course, means new skins for players to unlock in PUBG.

Despite being officially unveiled today, there's very little that's actually been confirmed about this crossover. We know players will be able to acquire Harley Quinn and Joker skins that are based on how they appear in Suicide Squad. Aside from that, though, neither PUBG Corp nor DC are giving us much else to go on.

One big question mark is whether or not this Suicide Squad tie-in will come with some kind of new game mode or if the new skins are it. Earlier this year, Epic Games and Marvel partnered for an Avengers: Infinity War event in Fortnite. The event coincided with the launch of a (non-Marvel) superhero-themed season, along with a limited-time game mode where players had the chance to become Thanos and tap into the power that comes along with being the wielder of the Infinity Gauntlet.

Whether or not this Suicide Squad crossover will offer something similar is still up in the air. It seems silly to hammer out a partnership only to leave it at a couple of skins, so we definitely won't be surprised to see more. The skins is question do seem to be at least mostly faithful to the movie as well, which is good news if you're in the camp that actually enjoyed the flick.

It'll also be interesting to see if this partnership brings more skins themed around DC heroes and villains at some point in the future. While it might too much to expect something like a Superman skin for PUBG, there are definitely some villains within the DC mythos that would fit right in with the game's gritty, dark aesthetic. We'll keep our eyes peeled for more details, so stay tuned.
