Predator Thronos Air makes Acer's gaming chair even wilder

The Predator Thronos is a gaming chair – an amalgamation of parts made by Acer to exemplify the most extreme state of gamer they're able to offer. They made this device not to appeal to the masses, but to draw our eye from the competition. This is not the first time we've seen such an offering from Acer – in fact this is the second "Thronos" the company's revealed – they revealed the first almost exactly one year ago. That was the Predator Thronos, this is the Predator Thronos Air.

There really didn't need to be a lot of differences between the Thronos and the Thronos Air. It's not likely that there'll be a lot of Thronos customers out there looking to switch up to another new version of the gaming chair here just a year after the first. Acer doesn't seem to have cared about all that – they just wanted to go ALL OUT once again in 2019 – with a chair that stomps the first!

"Following the great reception of the Predator Thronos, we've created the Predator Thronos Air," said Acer Co-COO, Jerry Kao "allowing more gamers to upgrade their gaming environment for a fully immersive experience." Acer suggested today that the Predator Thronos Air gaming chair was made to give gamers a "fun, immersive way for gamers to lose themselves in the game within their very own battle station."

Much like the original, this "Air" version includes a modular desk, a monitor arm, and a chair. The Thronos Air is like a cockpit, a cave, an immersive pod. This version of the chair has a variety of adjustment angles, including 130-degrees of adjustment inside the cabin and 180 degrees outside the cabin.

You'll find a spot for a camera just above the middle of three monitor slots. There's a monitor handle below this same monitor spot for ease in raising and lowering the screen. There's a desk in front of the chair with adjustable mouse and keyboard tray, and a foot rest just below the trays.

Inside the seat is "a massage function" for gamers aiming to "relax after intense gaming sessions." Lighting throughout the Predator Thronos hardware emits a teal blue "soft cool glow."

The gaming PC that'll be used with the chair has its own platform behind the user – behind the chair. There's a cable management system running throughout the chair, and you can be certain that Acer-made Predator hardware fits with great ease.

Acer's Predator Thronos Air will be made available to North America, EMEA, and China in the fourth quarter of 2019. This chair's cost will start at $13,999 USD in North America, EUR 8,975 in EMEA, and RMB 79,999 in China. Acer will also offer "customization options and upgrades" including a cup holder, headset holder, USB hub, camera, and a "seat stabilizer to prevent the chair from moving around during gaming sessions."

One might expect that the chair wouldn't be "moving around during gaming sessions" in the first place, but maybe that's all part of the fun. I suppose we'll see when we get our hands on the chair in the near future!
