Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster GTS models pack 365 hp turbo fours

Porsche has unveiled the 718 Cayman GTS and Boxster GTS cars, and right off the bat, we can clear up rumors about a return to the flat-six. It hasn't happened. Both the Cayman GTS and the Boxster GTS carry on with a revised version of the 2.5L turbo flat four that is found in the Cayman S and Boxster S cars. The good news is that the four has more power in GTS form than it did in the S cars.

GTS flavors get 15 additional horsepower compared to S models, and 35 more horses compared to the flat sixes that powered past GTS models. The Cayman and Boxster GTS models will come with a standard six-speed manual, but a 7-speed PDK is available as an option. The GTS models get features as standard that are optional on other models.

Those standard features include Porsche torque vectoring with a mechanical rear-differential lock, Sport Chrono package, and Porsche Active Suspension Management. That suspension reduces ride height by 0.39-inches compared to other Porsche models. GTS flavors have 317 lb-ft of torque for PDK version and 309 lb-ft torque on manual transmission models. PDK GTS versions can reach 60mph in 3.9 seconds.

The top speed for the GTS Boxster and Cayman on track is 180 mph. Both cars have Sport Design front fascias, tinted front indicator lights, and tail lights. The GTS logos are black and the standard Sport Exhaust system has black tips.

GTS models also get black designations on the doors and matte black 20-inch wheels. Lots of Alcantara is inside the car, including the Sport Seats Plus seating and headrests. Buyers can opt for nav. 718 Cayman GTS starts at $79,800 and the 718 Boxster GTS starts at $81,900. Both prices exclude the $1,050 delivery fee. Porsche did recently launch a $2,000 car subscription service for those who can't decide on a single Porsche model.
