Pokemon Sword and Shield trailer reveals Gigantamax Snorlax

Pokemon Sword and Shield have been out for a little while now, and today, we're getting our first glimpse at post-launch content. The Pokemon Company announced today that Gigantamax Snorlax will be heading to the games next month, and it'll be the first of what we expect to be a number of incoming Gigantamax Pokemon.

Like all Gigatanmax Pokemon, Snorlax changes its form when it grows in size. It's back to laying down, as you'd expect a Snorlax to, but it seems it's been laying in place for so long that a nice little hilltop scene has sprouted up on its belly, complete with a giant berry tree. Gigantamax Snorlax's special move is called G-Max Replenish, which restores consumed berries.

The trailer you see above says that Gigantamax Snorlax will be out on December 4th and will be in the game until early January, so keep an eye out for it when you're exploring Sword and Shield's Wild Area.

Following the reveal of Gigantamax Snorlax, today's trailer delves into some strange territory by walking us through the evolutions of all three starter Pokemon and the capabilities of Sword and Shield's two legendaries, Zacian and Zamazenta. This makes for a weird trailer because most players are probably already familiar with this stuff, even if they haven't purchased the games yet.

Still, if you haven't delved into Sword and Shield and you're wondering what the starter evolutions look like, then give the trailer above a watch. Gigantamax Snorlax lands in Sword and Shield a week from today, and we'll look forward to hearing about the other Gigantamax Pokemon Game Freak has up its sleeve after it arrives.
