Pokemon Sun and Moon gets new trailer with strange monsters in tow

We still have quite a while before Pokemon Sun and Moon launch, but in the meantime, reveals of new Pokemon from the game keep trickling out. Today Nintendo is giving us a glimpse at seven new monsters and a single old one, simultaneously getting fans hyped and leaving a few of them scratching their heads. These new Pokemon were leaked a few hours before the official trailer dropped, giving fans a window to claim they were fakes before Nintendo came out and confirmed that no, these new monsters really do exist.

The trailer is in Japanese, meaning that we don't get official names for these Pokemon yet, but the fine folks over at Serebii have translated their Japanese names into English for us. In their order of appearance, we have Tapu Koko, Charjabug, Vikavolt, Drampa, Bruxish, Cutiefly, and Togedemaru. We're just going to go ahead and call it right now: Cutiefly will quickly become a fan favorite, while Charjabug may just end up being this generation's Bidoof.

The trailer shows off more than just new Pokemon, however, giving us our first in-game look at Zygarde's Complete Form. Zygarde, as many of you Pokefanatics will know, was one of the legendary Pokemon from Pokemon X and Y. It would appear it's getting considerably more powerful in Pokemon Sun and Moon, as we see it demolish a Dragonite after changing into its Complete Form.

The release of Pokemon Sun and Moon will come later this year, during the celebration of the franchise's 20th anniversary. With that in mind, we're hoping for a little more out of these games than in recent releases (multiple regions to explore à la Pokemon Gold and Silver is something that's on this writer's wishlist), but so far Nintendo has been relatively hush-hush about any content aside from new Pokemon. The company is planning to reveal more about Sun and Moon this weekend, so stay tuned for those tasty details.
