Pokemon GO guide: Detective Pikachu's final 24 hours start now!
In 24 hours from the point at which this article goes live, there'll be no more Detective Pikachu in Pokemon GO. The big Detective Pikachu event in Pokemon GO started on May 7th, 2019, at 1PM Pacific. The event is set to end at 1PM Pacific on Friday, May 17th, 2019. Let's talk about how you can get a Detective Pikachu before your time is up.
The trick for this Pokemon GO pickup is in finding as many Pikachu out in the wild as you can. But beyond that – you've gotta take the right sort of photo. Using your Pokemon GO AR camera, you need to take the opportunity to snap the first photo in which Pikachu appears – but there's a bit of a bug.
Beware this bug
If you open your camera and accidentally close the app, or leave the camera before you snap a photo, you'll be out of luck for 24 hours. If you accidentally do this right now, you'll be fresh out of luck forever! As such, make sure you're paying CLOSE attention to your camera when its opened the very first time!
Once you've got the Pokemon GO camera opened, snap a photo. Once you've snapped a photo – Pikachu should be in-frame – you'll be on to your next step. The next step is finding a Pikachu out in the wild. The first Pikachu you find might well be the Detective Pikachu of your dreams.
Find these shiny Pokemon
In addition to this being the last 24-hour period where you can find a Detective Pikachu, there's a bunch of Shiny Pokemon out in the wild in greater numbers than normal. Shiny Aipom is brand new with this event – and if you find a Shiny Aipom, you can also make a Shiny Ambipom.
You'll find Shiny Bulbasaur, Cubone, Snubbull, Squirtle, Charmander, and Psyduck out in the wild with higher frequency than we've ever seen them appear in the past. Don't forget their evolved types, too – but only if you evolve the lot yourself! You can't (normally) find evolved Pokemon in Shiny form out in the wild – but I suppose you never know!
