PMA 2009 : Sigma talks new zoom lenses

Last year, Sigma unveiled a line of telephoto zoom lenses at PMA 2008 with HSM and OS (mechanical Optical Stabilizer). This year at PMA 2009, Sigma is adding wider angles to its new series of zoom lenses, ranging from 10mm to 250mm.

The 18-250mm F3.5-F6.3 DC OS HSM announced two weeks prior to PMA 2009. Detail technical aspect and comparison of this new lens could be found here. We had a hands-on with this particular lens and took a few shots with Canon-mounted unit. Our initial impression of the new 18-250mm Sigma lens was quite good, it feels solid and features fast confusing mechanism to work in a mild contrast lighting environment. The corresponding AF mounts will be available for Sigma, Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony at a suggest retail of $799.

The other three lenses are new to the show, namely the fixed aperture 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM and two OS-based 18-50mm F2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM and 50-200mm F4-F5.6 DC OS HSM. Pricing and availability were not disclosed at this point. More details of the lenses are covered in the video below, and all units are available in alternate mounts just like the 18-250mm.
