PlayOn yanked from Roku over legal fears?

You snooze, you lose; if you'd been holding off installing the PlayOn channel to Roku's streaming boxes after it showed up at the start of this week, it looks like you're too late.  Roku has removed the option over "the possibility of legal exposure" as neither they, nor the developer responsible for the channel, "are affiliated with PlayOn."  Those who have already installed it may be able to keep using PlayOn on their Roku streamer, but no new installs will be allowed.

Curiously, the Roky page is still showing up at the PlayOn site, at least at time of writing, offering Hulu, Comedy Central, Spike, PBS, ESPN, CBS, ESPN3, Nick, TBS and BET content for $39.99 in the first year and then $19.99 per year thereafter.  No official comment from either company as yet, so we'll have to wait and see on this one.
