Plants vs. Zombies 2 for Android arrives next month, says sources

Originally set for release in July, Plants vs. Zombies 2 arrived a few weeks later on August 14, being released only for iOS devices. By the beginning of this month, PopCap Games was closing in on the 25 million downloads milestone while Android users continued to be left out of the mix. According to sources who have surfaced, that wait will end next month.

The information comes from sources who are "familiar with EA's operations," according to the folks over at Polygon. No hard date has been provided because, says the sources, specifics weren't set aside from being in October. Thus far, EA hasn't confirmed the rumor nor provided a date for when Android users can get their hands on the game.

The game's original launch had been set for July, but had been reportedly delayed due to further testing that had to take place on back end server capacity, monetization, and the cloud-saving system it utilizes. Such needs resulted in the game originally rolling out only in select regions, following that a few weeks later with launch in the US.

On September 2, the numbers stood at nearly 25 million downloads, with the ranking sitting at a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars and total hours played amounting to 81,000,000. To make things fun, PopCap also elaborated on some other numbers, among them being the total number of plants planted (10,000,000,000), number of zombie waves (5,400,000,000), and the number of generated suns (39,000,000,000).
