Pixel Experience released for all Treble phones

If Google's not going to release the Pixel-based Android for the masses, then XDA member jhenrique09 will! This developer created a software build that makes the Pixel phone experience universal. Or at least universal inside the realm of phones that run Project Treble. Is your phone one of the lucky few?

The developer behind this project wanted a pure Android experience, but also an experience the way Google wanted it for their own hardware. As such, this build rolls with almost everything the most recent Google Pixel software build contains – that means Android 9.0 stuff, too – but still based on Android 8.1.

Above you'll see a demonstration of what this software build brings to the table. The basics here are Wallpapers, Icons, and Fonts, but you'll also get the right boot animation and hardware-centric designs provided for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. "Our mission is to offer the maximum possible stability and security, along with essential features for the proper functioning of the device," said Monster Mite (another one of the creators of this ROM.

There's a Github list of devices that've shown compatibility with the right system image necessary for this ROM. Incidentally, this is a pretty good list of devices that work with Project Treble, too.

If you need help working with Project Treble, there's also a Monster Mite tutorial for that. That's what you'll see below this paragraph. The process is relatively simple, but it's NOT FOR EVERYONE. If all you want is the wallpapers and the icons, there are easier ways to go about this business. If all you want is a new look and a bit of new functionality, have a peek at our recent guide: Android launchers to make your mobile life easier and snazzier.
