Philips 3D HDTV is 56-inch wonder

Since I was a kid I loved everything in 3D. I remember getting so excited when a sitcom was going to air in 3D and you had to pick up the special glasses at the supermarket along with a copy of the TV Guide. Those were the days. But now Philips is bringing the three-dimensional experience straight into your home.

The Philips 56-inch HD 3D display was unveiled yesterday and it is simply stunning. It sports 4x's the resolution of a any TV currently on the market. And you don't need special glasses to enjoy the show. It is a Quad Full Autostereoscopic 3D HD TV and it made its debut at a Hollywood event devote to all things 3D.

So how high of a resolution are we talking, here? Try 3840x2160 on for size. Yeah, that blows any current HDTV right out of the water. The high resolution is needed, however, to create 3D images without a need for glasses. The TV has a 160-degree viewing angle, high image contrast and it provides for 46 views at once. Rumor has it this 3D-wonder will cost $25,000.
