Optoma UHD51A 4K home projector with Alexa now available

The UHD51A project from Optoma that we first saw during CES 2018 is now available to purchase. Though it's certainly not the first consumer-tier 4K projector on the market, Optoma did pack one unique feature into its UHD51A model: Amazon Alexa. The personal assistant makes Optoma's offering the first projector of its kind with voice command support.

The Alexa support is made possible with the SmartProjection for Smart Home skill. With it, users can control their viewing experience and other connected, compatible smart home devices, including lighting, speakers, and similar gadgets. In addition, the voice control applies to the projector instead, which supports on/off commands, changing the input, and adjusting the volume.

Alexa aside, the Optoma UHD51A offers a 3480 x 2160 4K Ultra HD resolution, 2400 ANSI lumens, a 500,000:1 Dynamic Black contrast ratio, support for HDR10, Rec.709, and DCI-P3, plus there's 15-percent vertical lens shift, a 1.21 – 1.59 throw ratio, 1.3x optical zoom, a pair of 5W speakers, and USB.

Connectivity is expansive, including a pair of HDMI 2.0 ports, a USB 2.0 service port, USB for the Alexa WiFi adapter, another USB port for media playback, and yet another USB for wireless screen mirroring. The projector supports PDF Viewer, PC-Free Office, and the 4K UHD HDR USB Media Player.

Other features include a 60Hz refresh rate, Android, "supreme clarity," and compatibility with Blu-ray 3D. Optoma is selling the UHD51A projector through Amazon, Best Buy, and select other retailers for $1,699 USD.
