Olympus super telephoto zoom lens, 2x teleconverter now in development

It's a big day for Olympus, having announced no less than five new products going on sale soon. But that isn't all that it has. It even has word on things that are yet to come. Capitalizing on the attention it's Micro Four Thirds cameras are getting, Olympus has revealed two new lenses that are coming within the next year or two. The M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25x IS PRO super telephoto zoom lens and the M.Zuiko Digital 2x Teleconverter MC-20 together make short work of any close-up shot you pros might need.

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25x IS PRO will be joining Olympus' family of Micro Four Thirds lenses, picture above. The lens' built-in 1.25x teleconverter extends its focal length up to 1000 mm (35 mm equivalent) while in-lens 5-axis Sync image stabilization, together with the built-in stabilizers in Olympus' OM-D cameras, take care of the jitters.

But if you need an even closer look, the M.Zuiko Digital 2x Teleconverter MC-20 can push the focal length up to 2000 mm (35 mm equivalent). The teleconverter is not only compatible with the upcoming M.Zuiko PRO lens but also with existing lenses such as the M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm F4.0 IS PRO and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm F2.8 PRO.

Both lenses make the perfect partners for OM-D EM-1 cameras with their dustproof, splashproof, and freezeproof construction. M.Zuiko Digital 2x Teleconverter MC-20 is expected to hit the market in Summer while the M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25x IS PRO won't be coming until next year.
