Oculus Rift gets a holiday price drop, but it won't last long

We now have less than a week to wrap up Christmas shopping, and Oculus has come out with a new deal it's offering to those last minute shoppers (or impulse buyers, at any rate). Oculus has given the Rift a small price drop for the holidays, making it a tempting buy if you've been looking to get into VR. This deal isn't going to last very long, though, so you'll need to act quick.

From now until December 20, the cost of the Oculus Rift has been cut to $379. While that's a small drop considering the Rift's recent permanent price cut to $399, it's still a discount worth considering, especially with all that price gets you. This is for the Oculus Rift and Touch bundle, which gets you the headset plus a pair of Touch controllers, which were just released about a year ago.

Beyond those (rather crucial) components, though, you'll also get two Oculus sensors and seven free VR apps. Those apps include Lucky's Tale, Medium, Toybox, Quill, Dead and Buried, Dragon Front, and Robo Recall. That's not bad for $379, especially when Rift's competitor, HTC VIVE, costs quite a bit more.

In fact, the VIVE is currently being offered for $599 over on HTC's website. Like the Oculus offer, that gets you everything you need to begin using the VIVE along with a pack-in copy of Fallout 4 VR. That's not too bad, but for anyone who's on the fence, it's going to be hard to ignore this Oculus deal.

If you're going to take advantage of it, though, you better act quick. This deal will only be around until December 20, and after all of the sales we've seen to close out the year, it'll probably be a little while before we see the Rift drop to this price again.
