O2 iPhone 4 tariffs revealed: data disappointment

Even as we were writing up O2's newly reduced mobile data tariffs, we were hoping the new packages wouldn't apply to the upcoming iPhone 4.  Unfortunately, the UK carrier has just confirmed its iPhone 4 packages, and subscribers will indeed be limited to up to 1GB of data unless they want to take out data overage "bolt-ons"; most tariffs come with just 500MB, in fact.  Full pricing after the cut.

The O2 iPhone 4 will be offered from £25 ($36) on an 24-month agreement, which gets subscribers 100 minutes, unlimited SMS messages, inclusive visual voicemail and 500MB of bundled data.  If you want 750MB of data then you'll need to be on a £40 24-month contract (or £45 18-month contract), while 1GB of data comes with the top £60 24-month contract (or £65 18-month contract).  500MB of extra data is £5, while 1GB is £10.

It remains to be seen what other carriers will be offering for the iPhone 4 – Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Three have all announced they will be offering the handset, but are yet to confirm pricing – and whether they'll follow O2 in reducing their inclusive data allowances.  We're interested in hearing your thoughts on the new bundled data amounts: are we complaining over nothing, or do the new figures turn you off O2 too?  Let us know in the comments.
