NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet updates nails Android 5.0.1

As it has been with the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet experience thus far and as we expect it to continue through the future, updates are happening with all speed. Before the VAST majority of modern tablets get their update to Android 5.0 Lollipop, the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet is already being updated to Android 5.0.1. This update includes a number of system performance enhancements as well as the return of a feature axed in the update previous to this. Memory optimizations have also been implemented "for memory intensive apps."

You might have noticed the disappearance of your SHIELD Power Control Menu over the past couple of updates to the SHIELD Tablet. This Power Control Menu returns with the SHIELD Tablet's update to SHIELD Tablet Software Upgrade 2.1 and Android 5.0.1 Lollipop.

This update also brings on Live HD Effects for your Camera Awesome app. These effects allow you to roll with "cool new creative effects" for both still images and videos.

These effects work in live-preview mode and with full resolution recording utilizing the Tegra K1 GPU under the hood of the SHIELD Tablet.

OpenGL 4.5 support is enabled with this update while localization improvements should improve your ability to find yourself.
