NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet Lollipop release by November's end

This week NVIDIA has shared the good news – the NVIDIA SHIELD will be getting Android 5.0 Lollipop by the end of November 2014. That'll make it amongst the first devices on the market to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop – almost certainly just the second tablet to work with Lollipop. The first would be the Nexus 9, also powered by the NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor. NVIDIA SHIELD's update to Lollipop will also include updates to the NVIDIA SHIELD Hub app and the NVIDIA Dabbler app – lots and lots of tiny features.

The NVIDIA SHIELD was confirmed for Android 5.0 Lollipop back on October 16th, 2014. That was right after Lollipop was announced – and you'll want to head to our Android Lollipop guide to learn everything you might want to know about it.

Check our NVIDIA SHIELD LTE Review for more info on the SHIELD if you're not up to speed, as well.

Above you'll see the NVIDIA SHIELD tablet demoed with Android 5.0 Lollipop onboard. You'll see the aesthetic changes to SHIELD Hub, the updated collection of features to Dabbler, and the UI updates to Android.
