Nokia 5900 XpressMusic probably a fake

Remember those photos purporting to show Nokia's 5900 XpressMusic phone?  At the time we weren't sure whether they were a legitimate leak or a Chinese faux-phone; now Kunal over at Tech Ticker has been training his eagle-eye over the photos, and flagging up some obvious issues.  The biggest is shown here: the memory card slot appears to be labeled "TFLASH", presumably for Transflash.

That seems an unlikely tag for Nokia, who don't generally refer to Transflash whatsoever.  Meanwhile Kumal also points out the absence of a flash, the inclusion of which you'd expect with the supposedly upgraded 5-megapixel camera.

His other points – the lack of Carl Zeiss branding on the camera lens, and the omission of 3G and a front video camera on the spec sheet – could be explained away by virtue of the handsets being pre-production prototypes, but all in all there's still plenty of doubt hanging over the cellphone.  It looks like we may have to wait a little longer for the real Nokia 5800 XpressMusic successor.
