Nokia 2 entry level Android phone is apparently real

With the Nokia 3, 5, and 6 already out in the wild, and a Nokia 8 coming soon, people might wonder where 1, 2, 4, and 7 went. There will probably never be a Nokia 4, considering how unlucky the number is for some Asian cultures (where HMD operates). And 7 is probably going to remain a mystery. As for the Nokia 2, it is rumored to be a low-tier budget smartphone, one whose existence may have just been confirmed by a certification sighting.

It's not the first time that a Nokia 2 was said to exist, but its first "proof of existence" came from a not so reliable modified image and very little else. Now there's something more to work with, though the confidence level on this is only a little bit higher.

The leak comes in the form of two images, allegedly from the FCC. Only two sides of the "Nokia 2" are shown, the front and the back. There are no distinctive marks and the phone looks quite nondescript as well. The front side has a lot of bezels, not unusual with less premium models, and might even remind some of older iPhones. Minus the home button, of course. The back has small camera in the middle, with the LED flash before it, with a design quite reminiscent of some old Lumias.

Not much has been said about the Nokia 2's specs, other than it will be running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212, the chip maker's lowest range processor. It's difficult to determine the screen size based on these pictures, but the rumors do put a 4.7 or 5.0 inch HD display on it.

The Nokia 2 is expected to debut on August 16, alongside the more premium Nokia 8. That does mean that it will most likely be overshadowed easily, despite having what could be an extremely affordable price tag. It will, however, be competing in an overly saturated budget market, where it has nothing really to offer than just the Nokia name.
