Nissan Armada Mountain Patrol is an overlanding family adventure machine

Nissan is showing off the Armada Mountain Patrol full-size SUV. The vehicle will be on display at Overland Expo WEST May 18-20. The vehicle started off as an 8-passenger Armada SUV with a 5.6L V8 making 390hp and 8,500-pound towing capacity.

Lots of tweaks were made to the SUV with a roof-mounted camping tent being the most noticeable add. That tent is a Mt. Shasta unit and is fitted with a Rhino Racks supplied custom awning. More sleeping space is offered with an Alps Mountaineering pop-up tent, sleeping bags, and chairs.

Nissan fitted the ride with a Lowrance nav system and rugged radios off-road radio system. Storage includes Rhino Racks aluminum back-bone pioneer tray, ARB pull-out drawers, Pelican gear cases, Dometic fridge/freezer, and Otterbox Venture coolers.

Suspensions is from Icon Vehicle Dynamics with heavy-duty coil-overs and extended A-arms. That allowed the lift to fit 17-inch Icon Rebound wheels and Nitto Ridge Grappler 35/12.25/17 tires. Magnaflow provided the exhaust for the vehicle.

Other tidbits include Calmini rock sliders, spare tire swing away, and custom front and rear steel bumpers. Recovery bits include a 12,000 pound Warn Platinum series winch, Maxtrack recovery boards, Hi-Lift jacks, and Rhino Rack shovels.
