Nintendo Switch in stock at GameStop (with a pleasant twist)

Good news for those of you still on the hunt for a Nintendo Switch: GameStop will have the console in stock this week. Even better news: the Switch will be available without a bundle! Ever since launch, GameStop has primarily offered the Switch through bundles – some of them have been good, but others have been packed with accessories few would want.

So, if you've been waiting to pick up a Switch all on its lonesome, you can do that this week at GameStop. All GameStop stores across the US will have stock beginning today, though the company says that some of its stores may not receive stock until tomorrow. Each store will also be getting at least five consoles too, so it sounds like you'll have a decent shot at getting one, especially if the GameStop you frequent is in a more out of the way location.

It's been more than five months since the Nintendo Switch first launched, and ever since then, available stock has been limited. The Switch has indeed proven to be a popular device, but popularity might not be the only thing to blame for these shortages. According to some reports, Nintendo is competing with mobile phone manufacturers for components, putting further restrictions on how many consoles Nintendo can make.

Despite these shortages, Nintendo still expects to sell 10 million consoles in the Switch's first year. It'll be interesting to see if it can hit that milestone in such a short amount of time. The important thing to remember is that the Wii U only sold 13.5 million units throughout its four-year life span, so if the Switch could hit 10 million in its first year, it would be a 180-degree turn around for Nintendo.

As it stands, the Switch has already sold 4.7 million units, so it sounds like the console is well on track to meeting those goals. We'll see just how quickly this latest shipment of Switches sells out at GameStop, but remember that even if you miss you chance today, you may have another chance tomorrow.
