Nintendo E3 sale for Switch, 3DS is a rare treat

Nintendo is traditionally seen as a slow-moving company, slow to change and slow to jump on new trends. The Nintendo Switch is probably the most radical move it made in years and now it's making yet another one. Nintendo is having a sale for digital Switch and 3DS games. Admittedly it's not a huge list with huge discounts but, considering how rare this happens, you might want to grab a title or two if you were planning on buying them anyway.

Depending who you ask, Nintendo's E3 event qas either bland or the greatest thing this year. Admittedly, Nintendo has already pre-announced many of its E3 headliners but that gave them more time to dive into more surprise details. Like Super Smash Bros.' roster, some of which you'll meet in this rare sale.

Nintendo is advertising up to 50% off on digital downloads, but, of course it's not applied equally. Some of the bigger titles, like Zelda Breath of the Wild, only gets 25% chopped off its price. To commemorate Smash Bros return to the spotlight, Nintendo is classifying the games on sale between "Games with Super Smash Bros. characters" and everything else. The former includes Zelda, Splatoon, Rabbids, Pac-man, and Fire Emblem characters.

And to prove that it hasn't abandoned its other handheld console, it isn't just the Switch getting a rare sale. The Nintendo 3DS is also getting its share of Super Smash Bros themed discounts including Kirby, Mega Man, Donkey Kong, and more. The Nintendo E3 sale runs until 21st June 21 at 11:59 a.m. ET.
