Nikon D5 unveiled with new AF system, 4K UHD video

Nikon has unveiled the Nikon D5, its' highly anticipated new DSLR camera. This camera is built for speed and accuracy, says Nikon, using its' most advanced and all-new auto focus system. The D5 brings several new features and promises, including high-quality images at very high ISO levels, 4K UHD video recording, and a new 20.8-megapixel FX format image sensor.

According to Nikon, the new auto focus system is highly precise and covers a larger area than in previous models with 153 AF points. This new auto focus system is joined by the Expeed 5 image processor, a bit of hardware promised to offer "authentic and natural skin tones" in straight-from-the-camera JPEG images.

This makes the camera a "perfect choice" for portrait and fashion photographers, says Nikon. "This is a camera built for extremes." That's quite apparent with the 3280000 ISO equivalent and Nikon's promise that images taken at high ISOs are "suitable for" publications.

The D5's 20.8MP FX format sensor joins these, bringing improved image quality. The camera is able to record video at up to 4K Ultra HD. Be sure to stay tuned, as more Nikon news is coming in live from the ground floor!
