Nikon 1 S2 mirrorless camera finally arrives

The anticipated Nikon 1 S2 has finally arrived, with the camera maker announcing it today alongside a slew of product images. This marks the latest entrant into the S-Series, and brings with it a mirrorless design and compact body.

The Nikon 1 S2 has a 14.2-megapixel AF CMOS sensor without a low-pass filter, and runs on the EXPEED 4A engine. ISO ranges from 200 to 12,800, and is accompanied by what Nikon says is the fastest available high-speed continuous shooting (20FPS) with AF tracking among interchangeable lens cameras.

The camera boasts many features, among them being 1080/60p Full HD video recording, 4-second movie recording, a Jump Cut movie effect, real time adjustment previews, and more. Pricing and availability haven't yet been detailed.

This follows the new lens that was tipped yesterday, the Nikon AF-S 400mm f/2.8G ED VR lens. The new version would be a refresh of the current model, and reportedly will cost at least $500 more than the presently available model's $8,999 price tag.
