Night Runner 270° Shoe Lights illuminate the road ahead of you

Those who want their shoes to be smarter, but only a little smarter, have a new option in the form of miniature headlights: the Night Runner 270° Shoe Lights. These shoe lights feature LED bulbs that are just bright enough to light up the road ahead of you, whether it's asphalt or a hiking path or something else entirely, allowing you to walk without worry and without flashing around a pen light. The lights also include rear tail lights and can be attached to your existing pair of shoes.

These shoe lights provide 270-degrees of visibility, the red rear lights for alerting cars or others behind you, and they clip to your existing shoes using an adjustable bracket. They're water-resistant and able to handle high-impacts. The batteries are rechargeable via a micro USD port, and offer 8 hours of run time when the lights are on low, and half that when they're on high.

There are two ultra bright LED light units providing more than 75 lumens (each) for a light beam over 30 meters. Likewise, there are three different positions for adjusting the angle of the light — they can be directed at the ground if needed, or higher if you're alone and want a greater overall look at the surroundings.

The folks behind the Night Runner lights were seeking $35,000 USD in funding on Kickstarter, and they have just exceed that by a little over $36,000 USD with four days remaining in the campaign. A pledge of $50 USD will get backers a pair of Night Runner lights — the eventual retail price will be $69.95 USD. Shipping is estimated for September of this year.
