NFL Mobile app update drops ahead of Super Bowl XLIX

Super Bowl XLIX will be upon us in the very near future, and ahead of the game the NFL has pushed out an update for both its iOS and its Android apps. Several changes come with the update, the most important of which is the (future) ability to stream the Super Bowl and the 2015 Pro Game for Verizon's subscribers specifically. Joining the streaming feature is some additional functionality, all of it centering around the big game on February 1.

Joining the live streaming feature, the update gives NFL Mobile users live streaming of the Media Day player cams and Verizon's own #WhosGonnaWin show, which will apparently be available to everyone. Some exclusives will also be dished up, among them being all of the game's commercials, the game center (and related video), as well as news.

Rounding out the update features is an event guide and event map for the Arizona Super Bowl Events, as well as the ability to sync one's Fan Mobile Pass for inclusion in the NFL Experience. If you're a Verizon customer and you've never used the app before, be sure to update it and then fire it up. The first time around, you'll be prompted to link your Verizon account to ensure you qualify for access to the live streaming content.

Apple users will need to be running at least iOS 7 to use NFL mobile — the version is at 11.4.0 now. Android users will find the requirements more variable based on their device. Both versions feature in-app purchases like weekly and season passes, among other things.
