Nexus 7 JSS15Q update fixes multitouch issue
If you've been dealing with multitouch issues on your Nexus 7 tablet after installing the previous update, another software update promises to provide a fix. The JSS15Q update is now available for the tablet, offering an all-around fix to the troublesome multitouch problem, according to Paul Wilcox, the Google community manager.
Wilcox confirmed on the Google product forums today that the JSS15Q update does fix the multitouch issue initially brought about because of the similarly-named, JSS15J update. He addressed the issue directly:
This update does address the touchscreen issues discussed in this thread. If you're one of the people experiencing touchscreen issues, please let us know how it's going after you've received and installed the update.
Users on the forum do seem to indicate that the results are positive, though there may be some additional issues to work out that may or may not be related to multitouch functionality. Positive results have also been reported over on the xda-developers forums. Better than all of this is the fact that Google has made it so the JSS15J update that caused the multitouch issues in the first place is no longer accessible. Feel free to update your Nexus 7 now if you're promoted to do so. It's safe.
Some people have been returning their tablets in an effort to get a unit that works better, but that no longer seems to be necessary. The "Q" update isn't available to everyone just yet, though you may be able to force an update, if you just can't wait.
