Nexus 4 Android 4.3 update bringing some users a gaggle of issues

Late last month, Google announced that the latest round of Nexus devices would score an OTA Android 4.3 update, which rolled out as promised. Unfortunately for some Nexus 4 users, the update brought with it a fair bit of problems, something that becomes readily apparent with a quick gander through Google's forums. Among the problems are some common threads many have experienced, including problems with the handset overheating.

One of the more common problems seems to be failure to start properly after installing the update, with the handset being stuck in a loop of constantly booting the Google and X splash screens. Other users get a bit farther than this, but find aspects of their handset no longer working properly, such as keys failing to navigate to their proper destination or pass codes not being requested.

Others have found their devices running far too slow to be usable, or the multi-touch functionality no longer working. Several have experienced problems getting into Android because an option to enter their pass phrase isn't possible. Running down the entire gamut, the complaints are crossing many borders – reception problems, missing apps, disappearing user content, and more.

One particularly troubling issue some have experienced is the handset overheating. Some users have found solutions to their issues, the most reliable – and frustrating – of which is a factory reset. Overall, Google appears to be relatively silent on the issue at the moment, and no solid means of correcting the problem is available.

Of course, not everyone is experiencing the update issues, and some users report their Nexus 4 running perfectly fine after updating. Those who haven't updated yet would be wise to hold off, but those willing to risk it should back up their data first. Have you updated your Nexus 4 to the latest Android release? If so, let us know how it went!
