Nextbit Robin shipping date to backers in weeks

It would appear that it's time to ship the Nextbit Robin cloud-based smartphone – at last. After weeks and months after the device was first backed on KickStarter, the creators of the device have made the call for first shipments to be sent out. This first wave will be for KickStarter backers only, tending first to the first users that made the effort to lend their support – in the form of money – to get this company, and this device, off the ground in the first place.

The first wave of Nextbit Robin devices that will be shipped will be the GSM models. That means AT&T and T-Mobile USA, for starters. This device will not support CDMA bands as of yet. That CDMA model will be released in the near future.

Nextbit suggests that the first wave will be send out soon and received on February 16th. Company Chief Designer Scott Croyle spoke with The Verge today regarding the device, revealing that date tidbit in the process.

Below you'll find a gallery of photos and hands-on action of the newest iteration of the Nextbit Robin. This version will almost certainly be the same as the release version that'll be heading to Kickstarter backers imminently. Have a peek!
