News Corp's "Daily" iPad app set for $0.99 Steve Jobs reveal?

Speculation over News Corp's supposedly incoming "Daily" news aggregation service continues to bubble, with CEO Rupert Murdoch supposedly set to unveilĀ the iPad app alongside Apple CEO Steve Jobs at the end of November. Tipped for release in early 2011, WWD describe the Daily as having "a tabloid sensibility with a broadsheet intelligence" and costing $0.99 per week; there will be no print or online edition, only the app version.

While Murdoch was known to be keen on the iPad as a potential game-changer in digital news distribution, Apple's involvement with the Daily project is now believed to be more considerable than previously suspected. The company's engineers have apparently been assisting in the Daily's development, which is part of News Corp's ongoing "Project Alesia".

Despite Apple's involvement, it seems the Daily tablet app is still intended for more than just the iPad. According to the sources, while a beta will be available for the iOS slate at around Christmas, other platforms will get access in early 2011.
