New Mass Effect 3 ending coming in Extended Cut DLC

Were you one of the many people who played Mass Effect 3, only to have your hopes, dreams... nay, your very soul crushed by the ending? Was it so earth shatteringly mediocre that you just had to complain to BioWare? They definitely heard you. The company has just announced that they'll be bringing an Extended Cut of Mass Effect 3 in the form of a downloadable DLC. The new pack will "expand upon the events at the end" of Mass Effect 3.

Even better, they'll be making it available for absolutely free, nothing, nada, on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. While BioWare say they're "incredibly proud" of Mass Effect 3, the new Extended Cut has "struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team's artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe."

The developers of the game said previously that they were toying with the idea of adding more content that would address the ending of the game after fan outrage. Mass Effect 3 fans also considered a class-action complaint against EA over the "open" nature of the ending, when wording on the Mass Effect website claimed that there would be a clear beginning, middle, and end to the overall story.

The DLC will be available sometime this summer, and while it be free, that offer will expire on April 12th 2014.
