New Jessica Jones release date confirmed as Netflix's Marvel run ends

One by one, Netflix has been killing off its roster of Marvel shows. What started with the cancellations of Luke Cage and Iron Fist eventually moved onto Daredevil, and by that point, it was clear that Netflix was cleaning house. At the time Daredevil was cancelled, new seasons of Jessica Jones and The Punisher were still in development, so for a time, Netflix stayed silent on the fate of both shows.

Still, eventually the announcement we were all expecting came down the line, with Netflix cancelling both The Punisher and Jessica Jones after The Punisher's second season had premiered. That left Jessica Jones as the only Marvel show with content left to air, and now we know when the show's third and final season will debut.

Today, by way of a new teaser trailer, Netflix revealed that Jessica Jones season 3 will premiere on June 14th. We don't know very much about the third season's narrative, and the trailer you see above doesn't shed much light on it. The trailer is shot from the perspective of someone approaching the Alias Investigations office while an unseen narrator calls Jessica Jones a "cheater" and a "fraud."

As far as these Marvel shows are concerned, Jessica Jones has definitely been one of the better series alongside Daredevil, so hopefully Netflix is able to maintain that quality in the third season. Hopefully the fact that the third season was still in development when the show was cancelled means that Jessica Jones will have some kind of suitable resolution as well.

There's a chance that we may one day see these cancelled Netflix series be revived by Disney for its streaming services, but due to contractual obligations with Netflix, we might not see that happen for a number of years (if we ever do at all). We'll see what Disney has to say about all of that once Disney+ is off the ground, but for now, head down to the comments section and let us know if you're looking forward to the third season of Jessica Jones.
