Netgear Orbi Dual Band Mesh WiFi System is made for large homes

Netgear has introduced Orbi Dual Band Mesh WiFi System, an expansion of the company's Orbi Whole Home WiFi System. The new mesh networking product is designed for medium-to-large homes, according to the company, which it specifies as domiciles measuring at least 3,000sqft. The system is comprised of a router and satellites, plus it includes support for Google Assistant and Alexa.

Consumer mesh networking systems are designed to provide whole-home Internet coverage, eliminating dead zones that may otherwise result in basements, attics, and other rooms located far away from the router. Netgear has launched a number of mesh networking products in the past; the new Orbi Dual Band product is made specifically for customers who have larger homes.

The new product offers speeds up to 1.2Gbps, according to the company, which simplifies its system for consumers who are less than tech-savvy. Users can set up and manage the mesh networking using a companion app, plus the product includes support for Google Assistant and Alexa voice commands. Among other things, the assistants and app can be used to enable a guest WiFi network for visitors.

The new Orbi product includes Circle Smart Parental Control, which is a parental control offering that gives parents access to filters and other settings for protecting young users. As well, the new model includes Netgear Armor, a cybersecurity feature built into the router. Among other things, the protection includes anti-malware and anti-virus software.

The new Orbi Dual Band Mesh WiFi System is now available from Netgear for $229.99 USD. The kit includes a 1.2Gbps router and two satellites to place throughout a home measuring up to 4,500sqft.
