NES Classic Edition Walmart stock replenished as Nintendo scrambles

For many people, the hunt for an NES Classic Edition continues. To say the mini console has been in short supply would be understating it a bit, as it's pretty much impossible to find throughout the US. However, Walmart is coming to the rescue for some lucky (and quick) shoppers, announcing that it will be offering a limited quantity of the NES Classic each day this week.

The consoles will go on sale each day at 5 PM ET/2 PM PT. Walmart doesn't specify how many it has to sell each day, but promises that these daily sales will continue on through Friday. If it's anything like Amazon's sale last week, expect it to be an exercise in frustration unless you manage to get very lucky.

The NES Classic Edition has been the subject of much attention ever since it was announced earlier in the year. The teeny, tiny NES comes packed with 30 pre-installed games, including some of the most beloved games ever to launch on the console. Titles like Super Mario Bros. 3, Final Fantasy, Kid Icarus, Metroid, and Castlevania all feature on the NES Classic Edition.

With nostalgia running strong, the NES Classic Edition sold out almost immediately when it launched last week. Prices on the second-hand market have soared as folks who were lucky enough to get their hands on these rare consoles attempt to resell them with huge mark ups. Nintendo says that a steady supply of NES Classic Editions will be available through the holiday season, but right now it looks like the company will have to produce a lot to keep up with demand.

If you want to try your hand at snagging an NES Classic Edition from Walmart, you'll be able to find it later today on its website. Hopefully Walmart was able to secure a decent number of them, but considering the reports we heard about small shipments before launch, that doesn't seem all that likely. Good luck!
