Naim Uniti Atom wireless music player has a lower entry barrier

Premium equipment naturally comes with a premium price tag. It might not always be so but it's pretty much the status quo. Unfortunately, that situation turns off many of those who would appreciate the quality experience offered by these products. Fortunately, Naim Audio, one of the biggest names in the premium audio equipment market, has felt the pain of audiophiles and has launched the Naim Uniti Atom, the entry-level music player form its new Uniti product line that promises a premium listening experience, no wires attached.

The Uniti range is Naim's new line of high-performance wireless audio systems that combine the company's iconic rotary control with the convenience of audio streaming technologies and services. Made up of the Uniti Core audio server, the Uniti Nova, Uniti Star, and the Uniti Atom, the audio systems are designed to play well with other audio equipment, preferably Naim's, and play audio well from any source.

The Uniti Atom supports all kinds of music streaming sources, from Spotify to Tidal to Google Cast to Apple AirPlay. Hi-res audio can also be streamed from a PC or Mac or, better yet, the Naim Uniti Core server. Basically any source device that supports Bluetooth aptX HD is guaranteed to produce a high-quality and stable stream for the best audio experience.

Of course, a music player is only one half of the equation. The other half is the output. The Uniti Atom features an integrated 40-watt amp and a 40-bit SHARC DSP for removing jitters. The players, both Atom and Nova, inherit the Naim Statement's Burr Brown DAC and digital filter technology. The Uniti Atom supports multi-room playback using the Roon platform and even syncs with Naim's own Mu-So players.

Truth be told, the Uniti Atom is really only entry-level in relation to the other members of the Naim Uniti family, which are quite expensive as expected. The Naim Uniti Atom itself costs $2,995, which is actually half the price of the other players in this new range.
