MSI X-Slim X430 packs Athlon Neo X2 CPU, skinny frame

MSI have outed their latest X-Slim ultraportable, and they've slipped in an AMD processor rather than the usual Intel fare.  The MSI X-Slim X430 gets AMD's Athlon Neo X2 CPU and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD3200 GPU, together with 2GB of memory, a 14-inch 1366 x 768 16:9 display and choice of 320GB or 500GB hard-drives.  In keeping with the X-Slim range's skinny ethos, it measures 24.5mm thick.

Connectivity includes WiFi b/g/n, gigabit ethernet, HDMI, audio in/out, two USB ports and optional Bluetooth 2.0+EDR.  There's also a 2-in-1 memory card reader, 1.3-megapixel webcam and VGA output, and MSI will happily sell you an external DVD burner and Blu-ray player combo drive.

OS is Windows 7 Home Premium.  MSI are keeping quiet on battery estimates – both 4- and 8-cell batteries will be available – though they reckon the reasonably frugal AMD processor will help the X430 run longer than rivals; nor have they confirmed pricing or availability.
