MSI VX600: just a straightforward notebook

MSI have announced a 15.4-inch value notebook, the MSI VX600, and while it may not be as fashionable as a netbook it's arguably far more flexible.  The VX600 has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, paired with ATI Mobility Radeon HD3410 graphics, up to 4GB of memory and between 160GB and 320GB of storage.

There's also either WiFi b/g or b/g/n, a DVD burner, 1.3-megapixel webcam and optional Bluetooth. Connectivity includes four USB 2.0 ports, VGA output, audio in/out, a separate microphone socket (plus integrated mic), 4-in-1 card reader and 10/100 ethernet.

It's not going to win any fashion or spec competitions, true, but the MSI VX600 seems a decent home or student machine. It'll be available with either 6 or 9-cell batteries, measures 358 x 259 x 27-33 mm and weighs 2.6kg (presumably with the smaller battery). Now all we need is a price and launch date; we're guessing cheap and soon.
