Motorola Flipout spotted; Android 2.1 MOTOBLUR update imminent?

We can't say we've been driven into a square-phone frenzy by Nokia's 7705 Twist, but obviously someone at Motorola thinks this form-factor is the way forward.  According to Gizmodo Brazil you're looking at the Motorola Flipout, a squared-off twisting Android smartphone running 2.1 Eclair with MOTOBLUR.

Apparently the Flipout has a 2.8-inch touchscreen, 512MB of memory and 256MB of RAM, paired with a 700MHz processor and GPS.  There's also a 3.1-megapixel camera and at least three colors – black, green and pink – together with that QWERTY keyboard of course.

While the Flipout may not particularly excite you, the prospect of an upgrade to Android 2.1 for phones currently on sale with MOTOBLUR might do.  So far Motorola have only said they're working on the update, but if the Flipout does arrive in June 2010 we can hope that the new firmware will follow shortly after.
