Monster unveils Beats by Dr. Dre Solos HD (PRODUCT)RED edition headphones

Monster has been around for a long time and is probably most known for its line of seriously expensive, and often controversial, cables for audio and home theater products. The company also makes a line of personal audio gear including headphones in conjunction with some of the most popular musical artists around.

Monster unveiled the Beats Solo headphones back in September 2009 in its Beats by Dr. Dre line. Monster has now announced a special edition of the headphones called the Beats by Dr. Dre Solo HD (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition. The headphones are clad in the red hue associated with the charitable (PRODUCT)RED line that raises money for the Global Fund to fund AIDS treatment and research.

The special edition headphones are the same technically as the other headphones in the Solo line. They feature the ControlTalk controller to give listeners control over music on the iPod and iPhone. The Solo headphones also have a mic for making and receiving calls while listening to tunes. The special edition version of the Solo headphones sell for $229.95 and a portion of each sale goes to the Global Fund.
