Minecraft for Apple TV support ends due to low demand

Microsoft has ended support for Minecraft on Apple TV, the news having quietly been provided to device owners last month. The change only recently caught the public attention, revealing that Microsoft will no longer support or update the Apple TV version of Minecraft. However, the game does remain playable on the system, and there's a limited refund option.

Support and updates for Minecraft on Apple TV officially ended on September 24, but didn't become widely known until a recent tweet was published with an image of the notice. The lack of attention only serves to underscore how unimportant Apple TV is for Minecraft players.

"We're grateful to the Apple TV community for their support but we need to reallocate resources to the platforms that our players use the most," the notice reads. Any existing users will keep their Marketplace purchases and will be able to continue playing the game, but they won't enjoy any future updates.

Anyone who has made Minecraft on Apple TV purchases in the last 90 days is able to get a refund, but no purchases outside of that timeframe qualify. The game is no longer available to purchase for Apple TV from the App Store, and users will need to switch to a different platform to enjoy the latest content updates.
